Of the many qualities possessed by the 'successful' person, high
self-efficacy is without a doubt one of the most important.
A special type of self-confidence that is particularly important
in peak performance. Top athletes have used this for decades and
there is no reason why the Internet Marketer, or anyone else for
that matter cannot use it in their day to day lives.
Self-efficacy is your belief in your ability to do what is necessary
to obtain a certain outcome. A sprinter with high self-efficacy has
the confidence to aim for a 10 second 100m, even though his ability
is nowhere near being able to accomplish it. He has the tenacity to
try again and again, and again, although he's disappointed when he
fails, he still remains determined and maintains a sense of self worth.
The greater your sense of self efficacy . . .
- the longer you'll keep trying to learn a new skill
- the more difficult challenges you will undertake
Self Efficacy is usually part of a package of positive feelings including
positive self image and body image, a person with all these qualities is
said to have high self-esteem.
So how do we improve our self-esteem?
If your self esteem isn't up to much,
then you will probably engage in negative self-talk, your monkey mind
will all day tell you how it is possible that you will fail, instead of how it
is possible for you to succeed. You will also tend to sabotage yourself
when the going gets tough. As the going is often tough in alot of areas
in life, if you have low self esteem, and you wish to excel, you will find
developing your mental skills invaluable in helping you to reach your goals.
